Kiosk Mode Guide

Turn Any Tablet Into a Feedback Kiosk

Deploy a dedicated feedback station in under 5 minutes. No app to install, no special hardware required. Just open the kiosk URL on any tablet and your customers can rate their experience with a single tap.

How Kiosk Mode Works

Four simple steps from setup to collecting feedback

1

Copy Kiosk URL

Go to your feedback point settings and copy the kiosk URL. It’s the same feedback form URL with /kiosk appended to the end.

2

Open on Tablet

Open the URL in Safari (iPad) or Chrome (Android). Add to Home Screen for a fullscreen, app-like experience.

3

Customer Rates

Customers tap an emoji rating, optionally leave a comment, and submit. Takes about 30 seconds.

4

Auto-Reset

After submission, a countdown appears, then the form resets automatically. You can configure the timer from 1 to 20 seconds per feedback point (default: 5 seconds).

What Makes Kiosk Mode Special

Configurable Auto-Reset

After each submission, a thank-you screen appears with a countdown timer. Configure the reset timer from 1 to 20 seconds per feedback point to match your environment. Default is 5 seconds.

Fullscreen PWA Mode

Add the kiosk URL to your tablet’s home screen and it launches in fullscreen mode — no browser address bar, no tabs, no distractions. Just a clean, branded feedback experience.

Smart Review Booster Disabled

On personal devices, high-rating customers are prompted to leave a Google/Yelp review. This is intentionally disabled in kiosk mode because shared devices aren’t signed into customers’ review accounts.

Accurate Analytics

QR scan tracking is automatically excluded in kiosk mode since no QR code was scanned. Your scan metrics stay accurate while all feedback responses are still counted normally.

Works Alongside QR Codes

Use kiosks at fixed touchpoints like the exit or checkout, and QR codes throughout the space. Both feed into the same dashboard for a complete picture of customer sentiment.

No App Required

Kiosk mode runs entirely in the browser. Any tablet, phone, or computer with a web browser can become a feedback kiosk. No app store, no downloads, no updates.

Setup Your Kiosk

iPad / iPhone

  1. 1Open the kiosk URL in Safari (not Chrome — Safari is required for Add to Home Screen on iOS)
  2. 2Tap the Share button (square with arrow)
  3. 3Scroll down and tap “Add to Home Screen”
  4. 4Name it “Feedback Kiosk” and tap Add
  5. 5Open the new icon — it launches in fullscreen mode

Pro tip: Enable Guided Access (Settings → Accessibility → Guided Access) to lock the iPad to the kiosk app. Triple-click the home/side button to activate. This prevents customers from exiting.

Android Tablet

  1. 1Open the kiosk URL in Chrome
  2. 2Tap the menu icon (three dots, top-right)
  3. 3Tap “Add to Home screen”
  4. 4Name it “Feedback Kiosk” and tap Add
  5. 5Open the new icon — it launches in fullscreen mode

Pro tip: Use Screen Pinning (Settings → Security → Screen Pinning) to lock the tablet to the kiosk. This prevents customers from navigating away.

Desktop / Laptop

Open the kiosk URL in any browser and press F11 for fullscreen mode. Ideal for reception desk monitors or digital displays.

Where to Place Your Kiosk

Exit / Departure

The most effective spot. Customers have completed their experience and can rate it while it’s fresh. Place near the door on a small stand.

Checkout Counter

A natural pause point while waiting for change or a receipt. Mount a tablet next to the card reader.

Lobby / Waiting Room

Customers have time on their hands in waiting areas. A tablet on the reception desk or side table works perfectly.

Host Stand / Concierge

Staff can invite departing customers to leave feedback. “How was everything? You can rate us right here.” Takes 10 seconds.

Service Counter

Post-service touchpoints at salons, auto shops, pharmacies. Customers rate while their experience is fresh.

Dining Table / Tableside

Place a tablet at each table or section. Diners leave feedback before they leave — no QR code scanning needed.

Kiosk Mode vs QR Codes

Both collection methods work together. Here's when to use each.

Kiosk Mode

  • Best for fixed, high-traffic touchpoints
  • No customer device needed
  • Staff can invite customers to rate
  • Consistent placement and visibility
  • Works for all customers (no QR scanner needed)

QR Codes

  • Best for distributed, many-location setups
  • No hardware to buy or maintain
  • Customers rate on their own device
  • Multiple touchpoints per location
  • Track QR scan engagement metrics

For maximum coverage, use both. Place a kiosk at the exit and QR codes throughout the space.

Tips for a Great Kiosk Experience

Keep it plugged in

A dead tablet is a missed opportunity. Use a charging cable and mount the tablet near an outlet.

Use a tablet stand or wall mount

A secure stand at counter height makes it easy to use and prevents theft. Anti-theft cable locks add extra security.

Any tablet works

You don’t need an iPad. A $50 Android tablet from Amazon works just as well. All you need is a web browser.

Brand colors carry through

Your custom branding (colors, logo, white-label) applies to kiosk mode too. The status bar even tints to match your brand color.

Clean the screen regularly

A smudged screen looks unprofessional. Keep a microfiber cloth nearby and wipe it down a few times a day.

Train your staff

A brief mention goes a long way. “Before you go, would you mind rating your experience on this tablet?” dramatically increases participation.
